ABOUT
BIOGRAPHY

Trained as an art historian (Art History, Utrecht University), I have always been fascinated by the historical visual language embedded in everyday Dutch culture. From a young age, I was captivated by the form and fragility of ordinary objects; I could spend hours observing how shapes relate to one another. Because these objects were simply used in daily life, they often lost their perceived beauty and became purely functional items. When something is seen too often, its magic can fade.

After many years working in the art world, I felt a growing desire to create myself. Enrolling in a photography program at Stichting Statief (Utrecht) allowed my own creativity to merge with the visual archive I had carried with me for years. An eye for detail and atmosphere has become central to my work. I am drawn to stillness, elegance, and pure forms—compositions that offer viewers a sense of balance and calm within a hectic world.

My work seeks a kind of quiet chaos, and invites the viewer to observe the world with patience and attentive curiosity.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Silent simplicity and balance form the core of my creativity. Stillness is key.

Inspired by the 17th century Old Master paintings, I seek a world where tranquility, motion and wonder meet, using minimalistic shapes and balanced compositions to emphasize the beauty of everyday objects. Imperfections add depth, while time leaves its mark and objects become characters. Floating elements create motion and freeze time and space. Connecting the past and present.

In my urban photography, I also search for simplicity and balance, but here the dynamic arises from urban life. The urban space is my main protagonist, with people moving throug the setting. By playing with light, shadow, reflectiond and blur, the city becomes a layered composition of movement and stillness. For me, an in-between space emerges, where time is captured and everything is seen in a different light. In this way, the urban moments acquire a new identity.

My work invites the viewer to slow down, to notice what often goes unseen. It is an ode to the beauty of the everyday.
